The solo music of Vito Capitan can best be described by knowing his greatest influences. Like many people in the San Francisco Bay Area, he grew up listening from Metallica to anything like Mac Dre, The Beatles and Bach, but he also considers musicians like Toots and the Maytals, Elliott Smith, David Bowie, The Kinks, Neko Case, Bukka White and the Talking Heads to be hugely influential. He is proficient at guitar and harmonica, but can play banjo, mandolin and essentially any other string instrument.
Most of his life he played solo shows at bars, cafes and open mics in the San Francisco Bay Area until being offered the opportunity to record his first songs with Black Parrot Records while he was staying in Vienna for a few months. This demo successfully captures the beauty and sadness of love, life and wonder that speaks to every person.
